Due to globalization and the ever competitive job market, many English language learners worldwide are grappling with the challenge of meeting their governments’ and
educational institutions’ language proficiency requirements in the forms of standardized assessments scores and proficiency assessments. Colombian English language teachers and learners are no different.
This book aims to show some of the problems with trying to achieve higher levels of English proficiency in Colombia. In addition, the researchers propose solutions that may guide Colombians towards becoming a bilingual country that will use English at a much higher proficiency level. Only through the reflection that research brings us can we as language teachers and learners improve. This book is a fantastic look at the current state of English language education in Colombia through research provided by both teachers and students of English.
