Reseña

The Last Wish Woman is the english version, by Australian Kieran Tapsell translator, of "La mujer de los condenados", by Javier Correa, novel finalist in the novel national prize of IDCT, Bogotá; this is the story of those men and women who have not been mentioned in official history and have questioned themselves about their own place in war. There are no heroes in this novel, all there is are men and women with their little gestures that enable you to touch and feel the horrors of war with your bare hands. They are soldiers, hookers, guerrilleros or priests: characters in a big picture where, in the end, everyone loses. The author has been a journalist and a writer for thirty years, and has always had an obsession for knowing what happens with minimal stories, referring to our existence as a leaf of grass barely perceived by mankind. If it is true that The Last Wish Woman is allocated in a historical moment of Colombia –Guadalupe Salcedo and his centaurs guerilla movement in the 50s–, that is not a definitive feature in the novel. Neither is death.
