Reseña

Structural heart disease (SHD) involves a group of pathologies that affect the shape, structure, function, and adaptation of the heart to general conditions. These include valvular diseases, conduction system abnormalities, contractility disorders, ischemic disease, intracardiac septal abnormalities, and aortic, great vessel and pericardium involvement, to name a few. Thanks to advances in diagnostic imaging techniques, such as state-of-the-art three-dimensional echocardiography, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging, a more precise and appropriate characterization of these diseases is achieved, facilitating targeted and specific approaches and therapies. Medical and surgical treatment strategies have evolved, with major advances in pharmacological prevention and treatment, less invasive procedures, robotic surgery, and transcatheter therapies for arrhythmia ablation and valve repair or replacement. For this reason, this book: Structural Heart Disease, becomes an ally in the transmission of knowledge, following the guidelines of various world scientific societies and recommendations with updated levels of evidence, which will allow the reader to direct the management and treatment of each patient according to their own conditions, idiosyncrasies, social and economic factors, adapting according to their own criteria, the best management guide for each individual patient.
