This book presents the results of an investigation into the tradition of canoe manufacturing on the coast of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. The author recounts the archaeological investigations in the Caribbean that address the issue of navigation culture in the region and draws on ethnographic data from the riverside carpenters of Taganga, allowing for a critical examination of the history and anthropology of that territory. Within its pages, the reader will find details of the Taganga riverside carpentry tradition, which constitutes a contribution to the work of archaeologists aimed at recording and understanding the submerged and intertidal cultural heritage of Colombia.
