Torrential floods are sudden and highly destructive natural phenomena that have generated great economic, human, and infrastructure losses in our country, so adequate territorial planning and risk management in the face of these events must be established as a priority. This book is the result of the CAPMAPIE012019 research project called “Planteamiento de una Metodología Integral para la Evaluación de Amenaza por Avenidas Torrenciales a Escala de Cuenca en Colombia” (Proposing an Integrated Methodology to Assess Torrential Flood Threat at the Basin Scale in Colombia, in English), which aims to provide theoretical and methodological guidance from the understanding of these natural phenomena’s characteristics, geospatial analysis, and modeling of water resources to adequately address the risk management by torrential floods.
